Hythoria -- The Kingdom of Duality

This Land is possibly the most dynamic of all of Montcria. Home to all sorts of magical beings, there is a peace agreement between all species who live here. Those who could be seen as dangerous in other kingdoms (vampires, werecreatures, carnivorous demihumans) are able to live here in peace during the night. During the day an amalgamation of magical & nonmagical 'peaceful' species can go about their lives during the day. The peace treaty allows all to live happily and without fear. Breaking these rules are punishable by death, but many do not wish to disturb the peace, thus the punishment is rare.The peace within Hythoria is managed and kept by the Council of Ten, its seats held by two representatives from each classifciation of species within the kingdom.


Hythoria's Gem is Alexandrite. The dual-color tone of the gem highlights the vast difference of beings that belong to the kingdom. Often described as emerald by day, ruby by night, it is truly the best representation of a kingdom by it's gem. Associated with transformation, harmony, and good fortune.



Species Classification

The kingdom’s residents are broken down into Four Categories of Species:

Vampires - Mostly come out at night. Some may be able to walk during the day without fearing damage from the sun/controlling their bloodlust. However, vampires have made up a significant portion of executions put out by King Tidas and Ser Rolund, so many choose to come out at night due to that fact

         ○ Can only be killed by another of their kind, being immersed in running             water, or the sun depending on their age. most vampires die by their             own hands when the isolation gets to them, or the memory of their             former lives.

         ○ pure vampires are born from vampire parents, spawn vampires are those             who are turned by another vampire.

         ○ Freshly turned spawn, while they can walk in the sun, are usually kept             hidden for the first decade of their lives as they adjust to their new             life & wait for their bloodlust to wane.

         ○ Able to walk in the sun for the first 80 years of their life before it             begins to burn them.. they can exist in the sun for ~80 years, but the             longer they live, the more the sun burns them. once a vampire hits a             century, they cannot go into the sun without risk of their skin burning.

Atako - Meaning resistance or objection, this is a catch all title for those who are different from the majority of Montcria’s species. from shifters, dragonkin, sentient objects, aasimar, tieflings, even giants fall into this umbrella. Anything that does not fall into the expectations of a governable people in other kingdoms have the category of atako within Hythoria. While some wear the title proudly, taking pride in their differences, others may despise the category and find it demeaning or another word for “monster”

Demihumans - those who share DNA with animals. it is mostly up to individuals, rather than the council, to choose whether they are a risk to their peers. docile demihumans are able to exist during the day, whereas volatile demis are encouraged to come out at night if they cannot control their instincts.

The Others - your usual Humans, elves, half elves, etc. they get no special treatment in this kingdom and are treated the same as everyone else. while there are no rules explicitly stating they cannot come out at night, they understand the risk of choosing to do so.
